NewPipe is an application that operates with YouTube to provide access to YouTube videos on phones that don't have Google Services. The app is a YouTube client that doesn't use any of YouTube's libraries or anything that relies on Google's software framework. This means the app will work on any Android device. The only thing this app does is analyze YouTube itself to glean data.

Beyond the fact that this app is independent of Google, there are a number of amazing features. The app is essentially like jailbreaking the entirety of YouTube. The app itself is incredibly small at only slightly more than 2MB, but it is quite powerful. It gives the user the option of listening to audio from a video while the app is in the background, and users can even download videos directly to their devices. Amazingly, the app allows the user to download solely the audio if they so choose.

Using the configuration settings of the app, users can set a preferred screen resolution, but the app uses 360p by default. It is also possible to attach external video or audio players in order to play through the app. Whenever a downloaded video or audio file is saved, users can select the directory where the file will end up. If you would like, you can force every bit of your traffic through the Tor network.

There is no chance of anyone discovering what videos are downloading with NewPipe, including audio files or anything else. There is complete privacy on the part of the user, so there is no need to limit your searches through YouTube. The app isn't connected to any Google or YouTube account. One of the best things this app can be used for is streaming music in the background.
